Intake Manifold

Asked by Zoopieboy Aug 20, 2019 at 08:13 AM about the 1957 Ford Thunderbird

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have removed the intake manifold and reinstalled using stainless steel nuts and bolts, this did not allow me to torque to car specifications.  Upon startup water was seen on the valley pan.  I have re-torqued the bolts but am concerned of continued leakage.  Question is, shall I try another engine start and see if tightened down manifold holds, or remove manifold and redo everything?

Personally I would remove the stainless bolts and use a good grade 8 or 9 bolt. Most stainless steel bolts are grade 2. Then torque to proper amount. If these bolts were part of a kit, see what the manufacturer recommends.
