I have a 1963 thunderbird and want to replace the fan with an electric fan My
questions are,
1) is there any special problems with removing the mechanical fan itself,
2) can anyone suggest an appropriate size electric fan
Thanks

Just keep it stock- what's the problem? is it overheating? that mechanical fan is one of the greatest inventions ever made- lol
I would get the biggest electric fan that will fit. When you remove the old fan be sure and bolt the fan belt pulley back on. A flex fan is an alternative to the stock fan. Keep the original though.
Thanks the both of you, One of the reasons is to see If I can reduce the fan noise as well as a fster heating up.
Why bother The stock radiator and fan are when Ford use to have a better idea I have a 63 and it runs very cool all the time and Im in Az where 90 to 95 degrees F is a cool day
If you want the car to warm up faster make sure the thermostat is not stuck open.
One other reason is that with fuel at $10.40 a gallon I simply have to examine every method for efficiency, Thanks all who replied
F_O_R thanks for the query London UK at the moment is about $10 a gallon but was recently $11.10 The UK gallon is 15% bigger than a US gallon but the price remains the same
I'd have to agree with most of the others; keep it as stock as possible. *Do you have a good shroud around the fan ? That makes a big difference on keeping it cool. Might even cut down on noise.
