on my 1963 thunderbird The oil level is fine, the engine has always NOT
burned oil how can I check that the  oil pressure switch is ok and that the
wire and connector are ok I think the wire from the switch was faulty ( just
twisted around the top of the switch/sensor but i need to check that with a

Unscrew the sending unit just enough to cause a leak. Start engine and make sure oil is leaking from threads. If not, you have a pump/passageway problem. If that is ok (which it probably will be) then tighten the unit back and remove the wire from sending unit and touch it to ground and see if oil gauge swings to right with the key on. DO NOT START. if bad reading, the gauge is probably the fault.
