Why is my 1964 thunderbird running through so much oil?

Asked by David Jun 02, 2015 at 02:53 PM about the 1964 Ford Thunderbird

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I put oil in the bird at the beginning of
the month and it is been about 30
days. It's already dry and the engine
is starting to kick again. When I got a
diag done on it the guys said there
were some small leaks, but they put
high mileage oil in it to seal it up.

Have a buddy follow you in another car. When you start out have him check for smoke from the exhaust of from under the car. Sounds like it could be leaking through the valve guides
