Spongy Brake Pedal

With engine OFF brake pedal has a firm pedal.  Start engine and brake pedal
becomes very spongy and goes within 1/2 in. of floor. New brake shoes installed and system bleed.  Help would be appreciated.

pump the pedal a few times and see if it gives way. It's possible there is also air in your lines which accounts for the pressure difference. Whoever did the system bleed should reinspect to see whats going on
