65 Thunderbird will not turn with the key
I purchase a new battery, battery cables, and solenoid, installed everything and
double checked to make sure every thing was good. Inserted the key in the
ignition and nothing, tried to jump started from the solenoid and it started to
crank. I'm at a lost were to look now.
these cars are a little confusing...turn the ignition on, measure at the coil + should be 12 or so volts~ the cable to the block from the battery - as well as to the starter/chassis must be present~...and free of corrosion...sounded like you had a "locked-up" motor, but when you said it still turned, knew we had something to work with~ Air/Fuel/Spark/Timing go down the list and find any troubles with any of those systems~
Good morning bob. Just a thought. Check voltage on the small wire going to solenoid. Should be showing 12 volts with key held in the start position. If not check for blown fuse or fuse able link. Also check that you have 12 volts at the ignitions switch.
