Hi gregor ... 69,176 T-Birds were produced in 1966 and the 428 was an option in that year. It produced 345hp and was a $64.37 option over the standard 390 V8 ... Yep just $64.37 ... Here's a terrific site for info on your bird including some of the original promotional material. It will be a fun trip for you ... http://automotivemileposts.com/prod1966tbird.html ... I'm sorry but I couldn't find production numbers specific to the 428 in 1966 but in 1967 it appears that only about 10% of T-Bird owners opted for the bigger engine. If that holds in 1966 and there's reason to believe it might have been less, you are talking about significantly less than 7,000 cars. Hope that helps ... and you'll love that site!
