66 Thunderbird Window Jams

Asked by ChrisYakker5077 Dec 30, 2014 at 05:26 PM about the 1966 Ford Thunderbird

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My Initial question filed in September was:

My '66 Ford Thunderbird RH side main door window (new) motor raises the window rapidly, but when it hits the top of the travel will hit the stops hard and jam. The motor wont then move the window down. What is the fix/adjustment for this condition?

My Follow up question now is:

We replaced the window stops as suggested by tennisshoes and oldtimer37 (Big Thanks) and this seemed to work for a time but the original problem has returned (the window jams and won’t move).
Are there any further suggestions? I take it that there is not a travel stop switch or overload switch in the electrical circuit. This would indicate the window travel is too forceful or too far. While we can replace the stops again and reduce the travel is there anything else we should look at? Any other thoughts on this problem would be appreciated.

What about placing some sort of resister in the power wire to limit the amount of power going to the motor to try and slow it down?
