you sure about it being a T-Bird,a 4 door bird was never built.
the 1970 T BIRD LANDAU was the only 4 door T bird built,it was only built in a 4 door modle for 1 year,so if you have one and is in good shape,KEEP IT.is a rare car.
don't listen to papa, i know that at least a 69 and a 71 had 4 doors. the back ones were suicide doors. my parents had a 4 door 69 and i had a 71. both had 429 thunder jets in them
REREAD my 2nd post,I did some research on this and it was a 1 year build 1970,you right on the suicide rear doors.
They built 4 door t-birds from 1967 to 1982... that is what spoiled them.
to settle this google 70 ford thunderbird, and read it.
They made 8,401 four doors landaus in 1970.
where did u come up with this number.

I feel like such a idiot for getting RID of that gas guzzler, i kick myself all the time when i think that when i was 25 i OWNED that very 1970 T-Bird 4 door landeau i was in my late teens. i traded it off for a toyota corolla. at the time i told the car dealer that a large metal flake paint job (like on hot boats) would look cool .... AND THEY DID JUST that...dam that looked very impressive....... still looking for it :(
Google Thunderbird production numbers and you will see 4 doors were available from 1967 thru 1971 This site even included picture with four doors. Unless they made 2 door with 2 handles on each side :-) I own a 1970 Hardtop 2 door with buckets seats. Mine is one of the lowest prodution models because of the hardtop with bucket seats but you can see all of the production numbers listed here. http://automotivemileposts.com/prod1967tbird.html http://automotivemileposts.com/prod1968tbird.html http://automotivemileposts.com/prod1969tbird.html http://automotivemileposts.com/prod1970tbird.html http://automotivemileposts.com/prod1971tbird.html Here a 1967 with 4 doors

FYI Look again. It was 5 years that Ford made the Thunderbird with 4 doors.
I own a 1968 Landau with suicide doors. These were available from 1967-1971.
Thunder's in this body style where sporting suicide doors one car I WILL NEVER FORGET A FRIEND OF MINE HAD ONE WE WENT OUT A TIME THAT WAS SUPER.Sorry I don't have a picture of it ,it was BLACK ON BLACK NICE.
Everyone was right and wrong at the same time.their was only a small set number of 4door birds made each year through 67-72,yes i said 72.the 67 came with a 390,68-72 a 390 with the 429 thunder jet option, the cockpit was designed around a jet cockpit with in some cases had the tilt steering wheel the also tilted to the right to allow ease when getting in and out.
Those are mostly wrong answers. 4-door birds were built from '67-71...not 72. In 70 and 71, the only engine was the 429. 67-69 had flip-up headlights. The 70-71 was a mildly revised version of the 67-69--it had a pointed nose, no flip-up headlights, and a mildly revised tail light section. The blinkers were sequential in the rear, on all 67-71 models. In 1970, there were 8401 4 door Tbirds built. I have one of the 18 light ivy yellow 4-door tbirds with a white vinyl roof and white interior.
I had a 1970 Jade Green Thunderbird 4 door with the suicide doors. Like an idiot, I traded it. There was nothing wrong with it at all. It had the four power windows, power seats, the horn was a wrap around inside the steering wheel that you could blow anywhere around the wheel. I can't remember why I traded it. I could kick myself.
i have a 71 four door that im restoring it runs all i need to do is get body work i love my tbird

Too many four door birds were left for scrap. I am about finished with my 1970.....got a 1971 donor car in the garage.....sad it had to be a donor but parts are HARD to find. It would make a good rat rod type....
They made 4 door T-Bird's 1967 thru 1971 but the 67 thru 69 is a flat nose hide a way head lights and the 70 and 71 have what I call a beak and all had suicide doors. The pitcher is my 70 T-Bird 4 door.
The big question is how many is still out there??
lethaleagle answered 9 years ago

I had a 71 TBird Landau with suicide doors, Moon roof, chocolate brown leather interior, high bucket seats. My father had restored that vehicle mechanically, to perfection. Kicked the nuts out of Mustang 302 Boss's. Miss my luxury pimp-mobile sleeper big time. I had it parked at a garage for a month, looking for a frame to transplant it on (it's frame had gotten rusty) and it was taken from there without my knowledge or permission and presumably scrapped. I later found out from a Ford exec, that it was one of three cars built for Ford executives' promotional purposes. Cannot find another with the same configuration as that one. What a loss. When I get the pictures scanned I'll post them along with the VIN. Maybe someone will have seen it out there.
"The suicide four door Thunderbirds were only produced for four years, 1968-1971, and are very rare." http://www.mjcclassiccars.com/1970-Ford-Thunderbird-Landau-Sedan.shtml
Getting ready to repaint, reupholster the roof and head liner of my 1970 Thunderbird Landau.
I have a 1970 Landau with 4 doors and it is the suicide doors. I purchased it for $600. The interior is spotless but the body needs some rust preventive. I got it to strip all the interion and motor and trany with all the power stuff and put it in my 69 F100 truck. The 429 thunder jet motor should make my 69 F100 move along pretty good.
the 4-Dr TB was built from the year 1968 to the year 1971. I have a 1970 429 ci @ 360 hp, since the late 70s
I have a 68' t-bird... 4 Dr with 429.. is in fair condition. Is that also rare? Or are all 4drs rare?
Don't have an answer. I had a 71 with suicide doors was told it was very rare but I moved to the top of a mountain and watched the gas gauge go way down on my way home from work, this was during gas shortage and lines for gas. It took premium gas which was hard to find back then. Traded it for a VW Rabbit for the mileage factor. Anyway, my question is, I thought it had a 460 engine, but think I saw differently in these comments. It went to over 120 in seconds.
Just had it detailed. Really hard to find a mechanic who can take good care of it for me.
I HAVE just found and purchased a 1967 4 door with the 429 and I need front bench seat repaired and drivers door armrest with switches , both back door window switches , and what ever is the repair for the sequencial brake lights PLEASE HELP Parts or info !!!
