How do I adjust the carborator on a 1977 ford thunderbird
1 Answer
turn both idle MIXTURE screws all the way in till lightly seated[don't force] them Turn both screws out equally 1-1/4 turns. Have a vacuum gauge and a tachometer handy and tap into manifold vacuum source. Start vehicle and bring up to temperature 180F. Watching vacuum gauge and tach; SLOWLY adjust both mixture screws out a 1/8th to 1/4 turn at a time[maintaining equal balanced amounts to achieve the highest RPM+ vacuum signal at the gauge. Then adjust the CURB IDLE screw[with spring] at linkage to specified idle for your vehicle.
