what is the life expectancy on bmw X5 engine with 220,000 miles?

depends on many things how well or unwell its been looked after ,,the qaulity of oils used etc etc but the fact its done 220000 says its been cared for so keep caring for it and hope for many more miles.

it will last as long as you want it as long as you keep up with oil changes and other maintenence

Bmw engines have very good engine construction so they last long with good maintenance and care. some engines are better than others as in many other makes but the one's that came with the x5 they all have very good life expentacy

My 2004 has 240k and was running great until last weekend when I took it into the dealership to get an oil change. Two days later it acts up now the dealer suggest a new motor after suggesting a tune up which I reminded I had 3 months ago, and to use thicker oil....so now it's to the point their guessing...any suggestions.....I love my baby and I am not ready to give her up!

My 2004 3L has nearly 300,000 and I'm using only 5w 30 Castrol synthetic oil. Just go easy on jackrabbit starts and baby it. I'm hoping to go 500,000 then I'm going to try for 1 million.

Sounds like the mechanic messed up your vehicle to make money be ware of whom you take your vehicle in for an oil change and not all dealers are honest!
