Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The sunroof on our BMW X5 won't close, not
the vent, the whole sunroof is open. There is
no response when I push the button to
close.

Fastest way to check is to hold down the unlock button until all four windows go all the way down. Continue to hold down the button never letting off the button at all until you see the sunroof will start to open as well after all the other windows are down. If sunroof opens you know the fuses are sunroof motor are still good which means your switch is bad and needs replacing. If the sunroof doesn't open then check the sunroof fuse. If the sunroof fuse is good it could be bad wiring or leaks causing corrosion damage to the wiring. The sunroof motor can also go bad and no longer work. Not all BMWs have this feature programmed into the car that I know of but it doesn't hurt to give it a try as there is a very good chance yours have this feature already programmed. My 2005 BMW X5 does.
