302 vs 5.4 engine mounts?

Asked by GuruCGB62 Apr 17, 2019 at 08:48 AM about the 2005 Ford F-150

Question type: Car Customization

Are the engine mounts the same spacing i.e. can you bolt a 302 in place of a
5.4 V-8 in a F-150 that came with the 5.4?  If not, is the swap complicated?
Thanks

I seriously doubt an old 302 would bolt up to the mounts or the transmission. There would be a lot of problems including your truck being illegal to run on the road due to smog issues.

I am currently putting a built 358W (formally a 351W) into a 97 f150 swb stepside, the swap isnt difficult but you have to find a c4 or c6 trans for the 302 or 351W as a 4r70w will NOT bolt up, also for running the older engine with an HEI distributor i have to install a new set of gauges because the older setup is mechanical and the 97 gauges are electric, the 1997 drive shaft has to be shortened plus you will need to change slip yokes from a 28 spline to a 32 spline, i will post more once i have done more
