Does the battery light on the instrument cluster work? It required to be there for the system to charge

On newer vehicles, charging of the battery is controlled by the PCM, which is constantly monitoring various systems on the vehicle. This is done to control overcharging or undercharging of the battery. If you know all your connections are correct it may be worth the cost to have a mechanic hook the vehicle up to a live data recorder
