Question type: Maintenance & Repair
i have a 1999 ford f150 triton. I got a backup camera and wired it into the
ignition switch but my truck wouldnt start. I talked to a ford mechanic and he
told me to wire the camera into something else and put the ignition switch
back to normal and my truck should start. But it still dosent. What could be
the problem?

Most people want these wired in to come on as soon as it is in reverse, Since you put everything back as it was, and it is not cranking I would first check all fuses and relays that may have been shorted out when hooking it up.

Is everything else working like it should. All you did is splice into the ignition wires and undo it?

yes everything else is good. we spliced them in there and took it bsck out. We did have to reploace a couple blade connectors.
U need to start checking for voltage starting at ignition switch and trace from there. Ur back up camera should be connected to radio and back up circuit. It cranks but doesn't run, correct?

no it dosent crank at all. you turn the key on and the abs light comes on but no gauges move or anything. and you try to start it and it does nothing. dosent make a sound.

Test with voltmeter the wires at the ignition that they are in fact getting the juice & when the switch is turned to start. I there is power before it, then check after it.
Check under steering column too, u might've pulled a wire plug off the socket
