Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Sugar does not dissolve in gasoline, it remains granular. Just as if it were sand. You may have to change fuel filter (yes, again) and turn his dumb ass in to cops. How juvenile. That is serious vandalism, and if you have any proof, or even evidence he is the culprit he should pay for both repairs and punitive. But if you don't have proof, the cops will blow it off...unfortunately

That's how dumb he is. It's a common misconception that sugar will turn gas in to Jell-O, but it's just not true. He could have saved the price of a bag of sugar and use sand. Same result

Interesting to know. I have never tried it to see though!

Yep, FoR, I learned that long ago, on a similar question and looked it up on several web-sites, and they all agree, including the chemistry Dep't at UCLA The problem is I don't know if the F150 has a sock on fuel pickup in tank. I don't think it does. This is an actual 1997 specific, and it takes a special tool to R&R. The real problem is if it got sucked up in to pump. Depending on how much was put in. There is an old, stupid practical joke that somebody will sprinkle a little bit of sugar around gas cap, and leave an empty sugar bag tucked under tire - like it got stuck there

How did you clean the fuel tank? Did you remove it to clean it out? Unfortunately sugar is like sand, it settles to the bottom and almost impossible to completely clean out without removal.
