False start. And stall

Asked by GuruFNQNK Apr 27, 2020 at 01:39 PM about the 1996 Ford F-150

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have been to 3 places and nobody can figure this
out..nor will they listen to me.
Truck was sputtering and stalling..after I wait a bit
it starts..then it progressed to not starting, I've
replaced coils tune up and some other crap that
didnt work..mechanics wont check fuel pump for
whatever reason.. I did notice I turn the key half
way and wait for a buzzing sound. Once I hear that
it starts..I'm wondering what that is and if there us
a glitch when driving that makes the truck die then
come back on. Any thoughts?

The buzzing is probably the fuel pump running. Does it stop after a few seconds if you don't crank the engine? If so, it's the fuel pump. The buzzing, if coming from the engine compartment, could be a bad fuel pump relay. If the relay is bad the fuel pump won't run. Hope that helps! Jim
