Always use the pressures listed on the sticker usually on the inside end of the driver's door.

most of the time its right on the side of the tire depending on the type also you dont have to fill it to the absolute max if its 44 psi you can get away with 40 psi because running down the road will heat them up and it will gain a couple psi

The normal pressure is NOT the number on the side of the tire- that is the Maximum allowed pressure the tire is rated for without blowing up. Go to tirerack dot com for a discussion on tire pressures.
