I think you need to take it back to the shop that did the work and or find a new mechanic.

Cut your loses , junk the car , Should have came her first putting all that money in a 15 year old car ain't worth it .
Ask yourself do you honestly believe that that was helpful information?
I do. Every vehicle reaches the point where you're just throwing good money after bad. One thing goes wrong so you fix it. Then something else, and something else, and so on. It becomes a battle you're never going to win because the vehicle is just worn out! A minor repair here and there like a water pump, or maybe a radiator, a battery, or an alternator, or brakes can be expected on an older model. But when you're talking about a major repair that often is very close to or more than the value of the vehicle it's time to move on to something newer. It's more cost effective in the long run. The same is true if you start having multiple small repairs. But it's your vehicle and your money so you have to do what you think is best. But I've been down this road before and I can tell you a 15 year old vehicle is not worth putting a new engine in. Especially when you're talking about a used engine that you know nothing about. You're replacing one worn out engine with another. Make no sense to me! Good luck to you! Jim
