Check for power at the electrical connections. Check the fuses if no power at the tabs.

I had the same issue on my 2004. The defogger/antenna module electrical input overheats and melts. I bought a new module and connector online. It was about $150. The high current that goes into the defroster grid melts the connector and ruin the module. This happened on my 97, too. New connector, new module, defroster works fine now.
