Disabling automatic headlines when in park

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
This car turns on the headlight at night when I start it up
and am looking for a way to disable this feature. It's one
thing when it's in drive but i should be able to warm up my
car at night without shining my lights. Any help would be
appreciated, thank you.

You should have a position on your headlight switch that allows you to turn the headlights on and off manually

The device is a pull out knob which does not effect the lights at night. Turning it only dims the internal lights and pulling the knob out will turn them on during the day but pushing it into the "off position does nothing. Is this a defective switch perhaps?
No cus mines does the same.please somebody help.sometimes u want to have the car on,but with the lights off
If your in park you can press the emergency brake in a few clicks and that will turn off the drl's.

Pull one click that turns the headlights off
No that doesn't work either. There must be a way to disable the automatic function so that the lights are used manually only.
I have a "p" button on my dash if I hit.that button only my orange running lights are.on no headlights...just tried it cuz was driving me crazy as well...it.worked

I JUST FIGURED IT OUT! push the little twilight sentinel button to the left and they turn off :)
The only thing that will work is to smash out your headlights on frustration!
Engage your parking brake before you turn the car on. Only then will the headlights remain off until you disengage the parking brake.
there is a gm code combination that allows you to turn them on and off. GM does not like you to know these little code combos so they keep them hush hush. I seen it done by a service tech who refused to tell me how he did it. They want you to bring it in and charge you for the work;.
You must be talking about the running light because you can easily turn off the headlights but the running lights will always be on as a safety feature unless you run a bypass switch to the fuse box and run it inside the car where you can flip the switch to kill power to fuse
