1996 roadmaster estate wagon

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I have 2 96 roadmaster wagons which I dearly love. However the leveler is making so much noise (It runs until the car levels itself) I realize it is 25 years old and ask the mechanic if there was any place to spray or oil it and he said No. Does anyone else have this problem? It also (leveler) runs 5 to 10 minutes after you've stopped the engine.

I am guessing you have an air leak in the system. It is probably time for a new compressor.

I am taking care if this issue right now on my 96 roadmaster wagon. What will eventually happen is the motor locks up and the 25 amp fuse (under hood fuse box) will blow. The under hood light is on the same circuit. So when you lift the hood and the light does not go on you can bet the fuse is gone (and so is your pump motor) is unit is available from rock auto. I would get a sprayer bottle with some dish soap water and spray anywhere there is a connection and check for leaks/fix before you buy a new pump. You would hate to work the hell out of a new one and be back in the same situation. here is the link for a new compressor. https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/buick,1996,roadmaster,5.7l+v8,1022218,suspension, air+compressor,12719

The lever will run (or be allowed to run) for up to 15 min after the car is off. That is OK unless yours is doing what mine is doing (leaking down). I did find that my leak is the pump itself the unit is just plain worn out. Since the car has only 112K and is in mint shape it is worth the money to fix. I also know the air shocks are new so no issues there either. Good lick Hope you can get her all fixed up. The levers are nice when working properly.
