Try disconnecting the battery for about an hour and see if that works. This should reset all of the components in the car.

I'm not familiar with that specific car but with some other cars you can lock and unlock the car with the key-fob and that tells the security system to reset. Evidently when the system knows the owner (the one with the key-fob) is present it assumes all is well. You can also try locking and unlocking the drivers door with the outside key and that will often reset it as well,.

You may have damaged the part of the ignition that reads that chip. First try this relearn procedure. If that does not work, check out this link for DIY options. http://www.diy-gm- security.com/ Relearn the system. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF. Attempt to start the engine, then release the key to ON, vehicle will not start. Observe the SECURITY telltale, after approximately 10 minutes the telltale will turn OFF. Turn OFF the ignition, and wait 5 seconds. Start vehicle.

1) Using correct key turn to on with engine off 2) observe security indicator. After approximately 10 minutes, the telltale will turn off 3) Turn off the ignition, and wait 5 seconds 4) Repeat steps 1,2 & 3 two more times for a total of 3 cycles or 30 minutes. IMPORTANT: The vehicle learns the key transponder information and/or passwords on the ignition switch transition from OFF to RUN. You must turn the ignition OFF before attempting to start the vehicle. You may then use your spare ignition key to also activate it.
