Why wont my Chrysler 2000 Town & Country start?

Asked by cpainter Sep 26, 2015 at 04:49 PM about the 2000 Chrysler Town & Country

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hello, I put a new radio in our 2000 Town and Country...everything worked
fine but no sound coming from any speaker (it had an infinity stereo system
in it, which I understand that each speaker had its own amp attached to it
instead of a centralized amp for all) so I wired around the amps to bypass
them. I went to start the vehicle and it started, then shut off...3 times and
now it wont start at all. I've sence went back and wired the speakers back
the way they were when everything was working and still nothing. Have
checked the instrument panel cluster for any soldier problems and that all
looks fine....have checked the (pink and blue w/ red stripe) black plug
coming out of the ignition for power and there is. Checked ALL of the fuses
and the number 2 fuse of the fusebox isnt getting any power, the rest are.
Any help would be appreciated as I'm not sure where to go from
here...thanks!

Just for a quick test, I would just put a jump wire from a fuse with power to the #2 fuse with no power. See if it fires up or if the stereo works. Post back with results......

thanks for the answer :) tried that yesterday as a side thought and still no change. I'm thinking its something in the anti-theft system but have tried re-setting that in every way possible but still nothing..:(

Yeah, I didn't realize you had anti theft. If you had disconnected the battery to do your stereo work, it most likely disabled the car. If you didn't unhook the battery, you could have a bad circuit board in the instrument cluster. Usually, locking and unlocking the doors at least 3 times will reset things. If that doesn't work, bang the dash above the instrument cluster as you hold the key to the start position. If it suddenly tries to start, you have a bad solder point. The last option is to have your Sentry key tested to see if it's communicating with your SKIM module. But that's a trip to the dealership........

Tried all of that already (except taking it to the dealer) All the solder points look good. Is there any way to disable the anti-theft system?
