loud bang then dies

Doing 70 on freeway then loud bang it dies,,the gauges all whack,y gear
indicator light not working and had the red light blinking next to the temp
gauge
but will still shift through gears but will not start! i did get it running after
checking all the fuses and replaced one  then fired right up! but concerned
ant idea what happened??
