Is the wheel hot? Touch both rear wheels to see if they are the same. The other possibility is that you snagged a plastic grocery store bag on the exhaust pipe.

I have a 2012 Ram 2500 Diesel. It has the same smell coming from the wheel wells too. Was told it is blow by tube that vents from the engine
