were is the thermostate located on a 2004 4.7 V8 dodge ram 1500

Follow the upper radiator hose back to where it enters the engine block. The thermostat is located underneath a housing where this hose connects.

Seems like you would have to remove the alternator and the tension wheel in order to remove the thermostat. Following the upper hose is that correct?? is there a place I can see a diagram of the housing ??

i think he is wroung i was told by 2 mechanics on that model it is on the bottom hose at motor 8m bolts plastic houseing be carefull it will crack i was told

On the 4.7 it is indeed on the bottom. Follow lower radiator hose to engine. Thermostat housing is held on with 2 8 mm bolts.
