my check gauge comes on while i am driving and the battery dial goes all the way to low. thebattery is 2 months old. so what could it be?

while I am driving, my check gauge light comes on and the dial of the battery goes all the way low. truck still driving the same. made it to work. turned the truck off and re-started and everything back to normal. this is the 2nd time this happened. last week was the first time. what could it be. I drive quite a ways to work. please help. do not want to get stranded.

scan for the code and get the definition , sounds like it could be the alternator , if you have a multi tester see if there;s at least 14 volts at the batt. terminals when it's running and make sure those are tight , don't make a new alt. charge a weak batt, make sure it's charged , I always thought alts, would up and die but I guess they can fade away

I had the same problem with my 2004 ram 1500 5.7l it was the alternator it wasn't producing enough power when i replaced it everthing went back to normal and gas gauge worked fine again.
