DODGE RAM

Question type: Car Customization

WILL A 5.7 TRASMISION FIT ON A 5.9 ENGINE ?? NOT A 4X4

1 Answer

1,120

A 5.2 trans will fit a 5.9, a 5.7 is a Hemi motor, while the 5.9 is the old Chrysler 360. The Hemi and the old 5.2-318 & 5.9-360 motors were completely different designs and are not compatible with the Hemi mounting. In addition the computer would not be able to communicate properly with trans. If you are having general shifting issues on a 2002 I would look into replacing the control solenoids in the transmission pan instead of swapping. One solenoid controls line pressure, the other controls torque convertor lockup. These are known to fail. Just a suggestion. I have seen your generation of Ram with a newer powertrain, but it was a real lot of work and $$$$.
