Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Driving home this morning and my 01
dodge ram 1500 just completely died on
me. Will turn over but will not start. Seems
to be getting plenty of fuel and I can hear
the fuel pump turn on  so could really use
some help because my truck is sitting in a
store parking lot.  Also no code is coming
up. Please help.

Have the battery tested first, if that isn't the problem...try spraying starter fluid down the throttle body while someone cranks the engine over. If no signs of life, then try replacing the ignition coil. Usually when "sudden death" happens like this and no codes occur it wreaks of a blown fuse or some other electrical fault. It's also possible that the crank position sensor failed or came unplugged or just a dirty connector. What were the conditions just before failure???

This exact same thing happened to me. This was a project truck that I bought from a used truck dealer. The truck was only getting 10.9 miles to the gallon originally after the work I have done on it I was up to 13. My truck was running perfect, one flick of the key and it would fire no problem. I had just replaced the distributor cap rotor spark plugs wires. When the truck died I did the key dance it through 2 evap codes and the ignition coil side a code. I replace the ignition coil, I replaced the camshaft position sensor, I have replaced the crankshaft position sensor. I have no blown fuses , I can hear the fuel pump, I have sprayed starter fluid directly into the throttle body when cranking. It has new pulleys new belt the battery is good new alternator new water pump new radiator new coolant new hoses new heater core. The truck doesn't leak a drop of fluid anywhere has new transmission fluid and filter and Gasket, new oil and filter, and the rear Pumpkin was serviced by me also, plus all new front end parts obviously unrelated. I did have a hard time with the headlights shutting off which I traced to be in the steering column there were certain burnt wires that led into the terminal that goes to the turn signal assembly I have repaired those and the headlights work fine. One thing that is strange is when I go to unlock the truck with the key fob the security system will sometimes go off. I figured that possibly the security system could be killing the power to the motor and not allowing me to start the truck. I tried to do a security system reset by holding down the odometer for 4 seconds turning the key to on while keeping the odometer held down for four more seconds which made the truck scan and all of the gauges went to Max and went back down which still did not solve the problem. all of the grounds that I can find seem to be tight and not loose. When the truck died I did the key dance to see what codes it would read as stated earlier and I did not have any code reading no bus which I think would be a code for ECM failure. Even my dash is in great shape haha. I am baffled. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
