Question type: Maintenance & Repair
98 Dodge ram 1500 5.9.
Recently started having a pretty predictable idle drop to
almost a stall. Exhausted many replacement parts idle air
control throttle position sensor check vacuum leaks period to
no avail. Wonder if anybody else has had a similar problem
and can throw some advice at me I'm at my wit's end. When
is not acting up like the above said the truck runs great I've
only got a couple thousand miles left till 300,000 on the
engine.

Bump.... After I start it up the problem will start within 5-10 min of driving. I've figured out if I give it full throttle a time or two it will not act up again till I turn the engine off and start again.
Had the same problem with mine 98 ram make a long story short no check engine light so I had to take a guess at it. Coolant temp sensor helped but the fix for me was 02 sensor number one in front of the cat has ran great now for month and has not come back. Hope it helps
Kinda funny, I had actually went to the process of disconnecting the O2 sensors one at a time. Turned out the O2 sensor number one engine side of cat was either faulty or sending false signals to the truck. It's been disconnected now for a few months and not a problem since running great.
On a side note, I had just replace both O2 sensors and then that problem started happening.
