i have a problem with my 1997 dodge 4x4 1500 transmission

it would back up about 3 feet and stop hard go forward fine so i put rebuilt tranny in and a transfercase in  was doing same thing so I  hit it hard in reverse and it freed it up went to go into drive   nothing.   I would shut it off and start it again and it would go forward and backwards.  drove it down the road and it would be fine maybe 2 blocks and then no gears this is the 2nd tranny and transfercase   this is breaking me       any Ideas

sounds like a problem at the trans control computer or most likely wiring in harness from it to trans, freaded wires or control unit
