Will a 5.9 out of a 01 dodge 2500 fit into a 97 1500 with a 5.9 an match up the tranny

Asked by Phillip Jun 01, 2017 at 11:59 PM about the 1997 Dodge RAM 1500

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Looking at getting a new 5.9 liter engine out of a
2001 Dodge 2500. Just want to know if the new
engine will match up to the transmission in the 97
Ram 1500 with the 5.9 liter engine. And if the
engine we'll fit like the original and if all sensors
will match up

Yes it would match up and both have a 16 tooth ring tone reluctor for the crankshaft sensor, and all you should have to do is just swap some parts.
