Might try having someone give it a little push as you are pressing the button. Also inspect around seat for anything that might be putting it in a bind.

Dandy...a TWO person Job? that is unacceptable....the disabled motor setup probably will JAM on it~ best in this case if we can deduce why it ain't turnin'~ Button or actuator...could see if it's good with an ohm meter (disconnected of course)...you could go to the motor and test for the presence of 12V....the FUSE...somebody caused the JAM with something blocking (your gym suit) or something....and it overloaded~ let's try to find out why~ start testing the components...the FUSE is an important one~ we can do better then manually forcing a disabled mechanism and bending things~

I once owned a conversion van about the same year model. One little push up on the back seat would send it to operating correctly.
