manufacturers can change specifications through model years, so it may be different also on modern engines are controlled via electronics so make sure you get the ECU with the new engine.

I'm thinking about purchasing a 1998 dodge ram cummins turbo diesel, I already own two 1997's and love them. No one seems to know if dodge put the exact same engine in. They appear to be the same does anyone know for sure if dodge put the same in for these two years?

Doing a search and found your 3 year old question. So what did you find out? What years did the 5.9 Cummins span? About the 98’s, they are extreme work horses I know for a fact. My paw in law has had one for the last 15 years and let me tell you, he DOES NOT take care of anything!!
