Should my brakes be so hard to push?

Asked by FFBEN Jul 23, 2013 at 03:55 PM about the 1995 Dodge RAM 1500

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Seems like my dodge is hard to stop...ie....When I stomp on the brake it is hard to press
and the truck slows down, but it takes a while.  Is this normal?

Thank you

Make sure the vacuum line(s) have not come off of the booster

Look for any evidence of Brake Fluid entering the Booster that could be the cause of its failure. Doesn't always happen but sometimes it does. Just take a look under the dash at the brake rod and under the hood where the Master Cylinder bolts up. I like to remove the Vacuum valve and stick a long wire-tie to the bottom to see if it comes up wet.

My vacuum hose was blocked up. Hit it with compressed air and something shot out like a bullet and everything was good afterwards
