Transmission compatibility

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Will my transmission from a 1994 1500 5.9L 2x4 work, "bolt and go," in a 1998 1500 4x4.
Not sure of engine size.

Just ran outside and saw that my existing transmission on the 2x4 is a 46RH. Will call about the engine size and transmission data of the 1998. Not being experienced enough, if transmissions are the same, 46RH, will any work need to be done with the length to the driveshaft?

the 98 will be a 46RE. it has electronic controls, where on your 46RH the only electrical part is the switch for the overdrive. it would probably bolt up, but it won't work.

I have a 97 Dodge ram 1500 4 wheel drive is a 2001 tranny compatible with a 97 Dodge ram four-wheel drive
