Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 1996 F250 7.3 Powerstroke with duel tanks.  My gas gauge now is
stuck WAY past full and when I switch from tank to tank it stays on the first tank.
Is this just as simple as a blown fuse or am I looking at something more?

23 year old vehicles always need service.. mostly likely a fuel sending unit has said its game over.

This may be a stupid question, but would the sending unit account for the switch not changing the fuel draw from the front tank to the rear? The problem started when I tried to change tanks while driving to work. The only thing that happened was the gas gauge cranking way up but it didn't start drawing from the rear tank.

sounds like sending unit is not grounded loose wire.if it doesnt switch tanks then try solenoid under driver side cab either loose wire or poor ground.
