overdrive light flashing

Hello minnow-- Often I suspect that a flashing warning light could be a false alarm, but the hard shifting that you feel indicates that you do have a transmission problem. You better take it to a transmission specialist for a look. Your problem could be as simple as low transission fluid, but I would suggest a complete diagnosis from a pro. Good luck from Bovan.
its probably the transmission solenoid
have you checked the vss/ rear and sensor? located on top of the rear differential. it's 1 bolt 8mm if I remember correctly if you shake it and it thinks around inside it's probably time to be replaced. if there are a lot of metal shavings/ metal chunks your abs tone ring in your rear diff could possibly be damaged. another problem I've ran into is if you have a bad psom or speedometer odometer that can have alot to do with harsh shifting conditions also known as limp home mode. when my psom went bad my speed showed correctly and my odometer worked fine but my truck was getting worse and worse. new psom corrected all my shifting problems (1994 Eddie Bauer Bronco 5.8w E4od auto trans Borg Warner 1356 electric shift t- case)
Where is the transmission selonoid

Not sure this is your “answer”, sharing recent experience to help anyone... After installing a new battery in a 02 F250 5.4l The truck reminded me of the PCM adaptive memory reset process. Installing a new battery caused the engine to suddenly run like sh!t, the ABS light flashed a handful of times and the OD light was also. < they did not decide to flash at the same time. All of the symptoms were brand new, the truck did not have any of the above issues, until the new battery install. It was all due to my CRS and resetting the PCM adaptive memory correctly. After resetting the PCM adaptive memory a second time and following the correct process. All problems were resolved. God bless
