Jaguar x type 2002 security failure in cold

My car has not been cranking in the cold.
Whenever it is cold out it will not crank but all the
lights and radio will work and it will display Security
Failure. I already replaced the battery and tried
disconnecting and reconnecting the negative on
the battery. Nothings working.

Many electronic devices/components are effected by temperature. Since the key is usually some place warm the culprit must be the cars receiver (usually at the key slot) There's not much you can do because any type of heater will drain the battery so fixing the pickup is the only option ... a long shot may be to spray some WD40 into the key slot because Older Jags used a resistor .. it may clean the pickup ,, worth trying because most repairs require getting inside the steering assembly if the key is located on the steering column
