Car will only start part of the time.. It worked fine
one day then the next it wouldnt start.. we know it's
not the battery because when you turn the key
everything works but then when you turn the key to
start it nothing happens no noise no clicking
nothing... Some days it will start if it's warmer
outside we notice because we live in Iowa but then
other times it won't start at all

This is a very common problem on GM vehicles. The security system is notoriously known to fail. Basically when you insert your key, the system checks for a certain signal. If the system cannot get the correct signal from the key, it assumes the key is incorrect or you are attempting to hotwire it. The system then goes into SECURITY lockout mode. (prevents vehicle theft) This will either turn off the starter, or the fuel injectors. This has been happening with GM's for a very long time. There are ways to bypass this now. Read through this page for info, solutions as well. Google NEWROCKIES
But if it was that then im guessing it wouldnt start at all ..it does start sometimes if its warmer out we notice

That's the problem with the failing security system. It is very intermittent, and greatly effected by temperature change. When it doesn't start, look for a light on the dash that says SECURITY or a car with a lock through it. If you see that light, then you know for sure.
Actually it only has one thing on the keychain besides the key and its a manual
The security light does not come on when you try to start it and it doesnt
Change the "door chime" fuse located in the fuse panel below the radio on the passengers side inside the vehicle. Very cheap parts. This fuse runs the door chime, ignition, dome light and electric door locks. Like a Christmas tree, when one light goes out a few more do as well. I had same exact problem on my 99 SL1.
