you say you have spark , do you have fuel ? when you turn the key on/engine off do you hear the fuel pump prime the system ?
I checked the fuel rail to the injectors getting gas

You checked the fuel pressure with a gauge and it was the proper pressure? and you checked the injectors with a noid light to see if they were firing ?
Do you think even though I am getting gas it could still be the pump because one minute it was running then the next it wouldn't start

not familiar with these cars but something like that can be ignition and some models are particular they need a strong spark and proper fuel pressure , intermittent problems are the worst . Think it through and don't pull your hair out , let us know what happens
Ok thank you doing this for my brother in law
