pretty broad question....whats ur price range? for 8$ u can put a heat shield around ur turbo...dunno how much it'll help, but ull get longer sustained performance out of it. what a lot of STI owners r getting is a tuner kit, so u can hook ur laptop up to ur car, turn ur max boost up, fuels and other things...think around 400$
cobb access port, turbo back exhaust. This will increase your hp 19% and torque 35%.
The question is how much $ do you wanna spend? Then we can point you in the right direction. Mikes right start with a catless Turboback and up pipe.
go to a local car show. find all the subarus. ask questions.
1. Weight Reduction: 10lbs ~= 1HP. ...FREE 2. Heat Shielding: Like CJ said, a turbo heat shield as well as an intake heat shield (if you have a short ram intake), and exhaust wrapping...which you can use on your uppiipe and TBE, turbo, and header... ~$60 3. Better Intercooler: Swap for an STI IC or get a better aftermarket one. ...I forget the cost 4. Engine Management (EM): Mike is right with the AccessPORT (AP). Any EM will do, but unless you're very knowledgeable about tuning, and I mean VERY knowledgeable, you risk really hurting your engine. Therefore, an AP is the best risk-free way of improving engine performance. ...APis about $600. 5. Turbo Back Exhaust (TBE): Again, Mike's got it. A TBE includes a Catback Exhaust (CBE) which includes the muffler and the midpipe, and a downpipe (DP). Most aftermarket DPs will replace your stock shorty DP and another piece...each having a catalytic converter. If you get a catted DP, you're essentially replacing 2 cats with one. While a catless DP does gain you more HP, it's usually about 3-5HP. Catted DPs cost more money, but will also allow you to pass emissions (in most places) without any worries and is better for the environment. (these DPs use high-flow cats). ...anywhere from $500-1200 4. A Professional Tune: The AP uses off the shelf )OTS) maps, which are very general. A professional will get you, roughly, an additional 20% over the AP tune. They will be able to maximize your specific mods that the AP Stage 2 maps don't...such as an intake for example. ....usally about $500 6. Turbo Swap, Front mount Intercooler, Bigger Injectors: This can vary greatly in price, but let's say about $3000. That doesn't include the other little things that should be done to get the most out of your set up like, a Walbro 255 fuel pump, a silcone turbo inlet hose, if running more than 22PSI...a blow-off-valve, etc.
De-Cat Downpipe, but you may have problems passing emmissions tests
Crawford Performance also has Very Expensive options if you looking to blow $20k..
