Car won't go over 70mph

My Car won't go over 70mph on
expressway. I'm a college student
trying to find out what could be
wrong. I don't have the financial
capability to guess what's wrong.
I'm trying to find out so I can get it
fixed

There may not be anything wrong. Top speed is controlled by the computer. At my job we had a Ford Focus delivery vehicle. It's top speed was 80 MPH. Once you hit 80 a chime would sound and a message would come up on the instrument cluster "You have reached the maximum speed of this vehicle 80 MPH." Hope that helps! Jim
