My Jetta won't start?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Tried to go to work this morning and my Jetta wouldn't start. I have had this problem before and we have replaced the starter, alternator and battery. It doesn't turn over at all, the lights on the dashboard light up and then shut off. Not sure what else to do.

Is your battery dead... I know I had a problem with my Jetta with the fan switch sticking and staying on for hours which drained the battery. Not sure if this is your problem. Hope you get some help.

Yes the battery is dead, we have determined something is draining the battery. We will check the fan switch, thanks

If you go to the post that is Re: Engine Cooling Fan Won't Turn Off, Even When Engine Is Turned Off You might get some answers there. Hoping you get some answers. We just happened to hear the fan running a couple hours after we shut it off.. then again, we stopped the car and it wasn't until the middle of the night sometime that the fan just started on it own and ran for hours and drained our battery. Go look at that post and it has a couple different answers.

These are the two parts I am replacing. I am still working of replacing them.. I did remove the fuse that is in the box on top of the battery. I just pulled each one and found which one ran the fan. This I did so my battery wouldn't be drained anymore. I have only been going on small trips and with it being cold it seems to work for right now. Appointment on Friday to have them changed out... Yes, I am bringing the parts, cheaper to buy these online, To replace both at the dealer and with labor, almost $500. Good luck.. keep us posted on what you find. http://www.ebay.com/itm/350888551980?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649 http://www.ebay.com/itm/171145340781?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649

I'm having the same problem, bought a gli off of Craigslist. My dad drove it home, everything was fine no problems at all. Went to pick me up at 11 at night and car won't turn over. Dashboard lights up but nothing happens. Could it be the cold or what?

Our 2013 Jetta TDI was doing the same thing and on ours it was the Inter Cooler. Thankfully covered by CPI warranty. Good luck everyone!

If it's the EPC light it's the Electronic Power Control Module usually found under the passenger floorboard of car and needs to be replaced. So not buy it from VW because it's expensive. Like over 1,000. Go to a.e.s modules online in Jacksonville FL. 350.00 with tax and no shipping. Part numbers match and they work. I had to replace it in my 2002 vw Passat before I sold the car and bought a 2012 jetta
