Can I just top off my transmission fluid for my 2004 volts wagon Passat since I can't get under the car to check it?

you can do it, but most probably is going to start pumping out the extra fluid that is not need it. I WON'T RECOMMENDED.

Ok let me jsut say this... to properly check the trany fluid in an audi or vw.. it needs to be in motion ... so in other words it needs to be off the ground with no wheels touching the ground and physicly in gear to have a proper reading. Also the transmission fluid needs to be pumped in from bellow so if you can't get under the car your screwed. If your worried about it being low take it to the dealer and pay them for a trany flush and have them service any seals that are leaking. You can also take the car to a VW/Audi Specialist shop and they can do it for you as well most likely cheaper. this is the only recommended way of having the trany topped up and serviced.
