how to get rid of STOP CHECK COOLANT warning light on 2002 vw passat tdi

when this first came on i found a leaking water hose which i replaced, but the warning light is still on

The is a float in the coolant reservoir. The float has a connector on the bottom. Unplug the connector to see if the light goes out. The float might be stuck or defective and needs to be replaced.
