im not positive but i think u need a machine to pump in the fluid. because the drain plug also seems to be the fill plug. atleast that seems to be the issue on my 02 2.8l

first off it not as simple as it seems a scan tool that is capable of monitoring transmission temperature is a must, the fluid needs to be checked and added at a specific temperature, which I believe is between 45 to65 degrees Celsius ,and absolutely hands down the correct fluid has to be used, unless you wish to replace the transmission in a few thousand miles,go to VW and get the fluid from the dealer that way you are assured that it is correct for your car,not kidding on this.there is a stand pipe built in to the trans pan,if the level is correct, at temp with the plug put you should just get drops from the fill hole
