Could my motor mounts be broken when replacing timing belt&heater pump?

Asked by Monni16 Feb 19, 2015 at 08:15 AM about the 2001 Volkswagen Passat

Question type: General

Took my 2001 VW Passat to a shop for oil
leak. They charged me $1500 to replace my
timing belt, water pump, and camseals
which they said caused the leak. Got my car
back and now my 'emissions workshop' and
'check engine' light are on. Oil leak still
there. Took my car back and they said they
oil leak was under camshaft and they cannot
fix it. They refunded me. 3 days later both
my motor mounts are broken. My motor
mounts were replaced 1.5 years ago. I took it
back and they want to charge me $1700 to
fix. Could they have broken my motor
mounts when removing my timing belt??
Nothing was wrong with them before I took
my car in.

Sounds like it- now, at least they gave you your money back- and you learned a lesson- damn, I hate those expensive lessons- find a GOOD mechanic-
