My 1997 vw golf has been parked and not started in 2years I tried to move it when battery was dead,and couldn't be pushed while in neutral. It acts like the emergency brake is on???HELP PLEASE!

I know that this is a silly question, but have you installed a new battery and tried to start the engine? Also, have you checked the oil level?

try tapping the rear lugnuts, with a hammer, that might free up the rear drum brakes, so you can roll it
